By train:
To reach Vienna by train there are good connections from the main neighboring European countries. From Italy there is a night train leaving everyday both from Rome (14 hours journey) and Milan (11 hours). The train arrives at Vienna main station (Sud-Bahnhof) in proximity of the Belvedere. You may visit the website www.oebb.at  for info on railway connections throughout the Austrian territory, with the possibility to purchase tickets on line.

By car:

Vienna is connected with the major European routes. From Italy you enter Austria via the Tarvisio pass, which can be reached with the A23, then the Austrian A2 highway until Vienna, via Klagenfurt and Graz.
Transit on all Austrian highways and state roads is permitted only upon purchase of a Vignette toll pass, which must be duly exhibited on vehicles. The toll pass can be found at any petrol station, at the borders, at the Austrian Automobile Clubs (ÖAMTC, ARBÖ), at insurance companies, post offices and tobacco shops.
People with handicap are exempt.
