Campanile di San Marco (Saint Mark's tower) is a 314ft. tower. One can visit whole city from here. The meaning of the campanile is bell tower. People also call it Saint Mark Tower. Its bronze-sheathed roof caught rays of the sun and acted as a daytime for mariners. You can enjoy sublime views of Venice, the lagoons, and the peaks of the Alps form the top of the bell tower. It was built as a lighthouse to help navigation in the lagoon. Galileo also used it. The Campanile is closed to the Basilica di San Marco, in Piazza San Marco.
