Saint Mark's Basilica in Venice

Basilica di San Marco (St. Mark’s Basilica) is a well known monument made unique by both its wealth of history and the magnificence of its portico and interior. Moreover it is a splendid workshop of great artist.  This symbolizes the lagoon and protects the history of the city. It is one of the most precious altar screens in the world, covered with more than 3000 precious stones. In 1096, it was finished, but continues construction until the beginning of the 19th century made it attractive.  Here, five domes covering the crossing, each of the arms supported by large piers linked by arches. In this way the light was directed towards the centre of the basilica. Basilica is in Piazza San Marco, close to Campanile di San Marco
