Casa da Música di Porto

This is actually not a real museum, but a huge building with a bizarre shape, which ospita concerti hosts concerts of classical, rock, jazz, fado music,as well as opera, dance performances, and workshop . The foyer is open, and access to the common spaces in the structure is always permitted.

The Casa da Música,was designed by the architects Rem Koolhaas and Ellen Van Loon, It includes two auditoriums, a cyber music space, two rooms for educational activities, a bar and a restaurant.
The most striking aspect of this building is the particular interaction of shapes and colors.
The common spaces are always monochrome, grey, aluminum and stone-made, and create quite a contrast with the colored rooms, each of them with a thematic color: green room for the cyber music room, golden room for the auditorium, resembling the talhas douradas of the baroque churches of the Old Town. The small auditorium has rose walls and violet chairs.

Colors intertwine with sober and essential lines, creating quite an opposition compared to the traditional Portuguese architecture.

The Casa da Musica certainly represents an interesting and challenging place, and it is worth to have at least a café in its bar.
