Public transports
Milan is well served by public transports, which are quite punctual, precise and in good state.
If you move by public transports, the underground is the quickest way. Currently under extension, the underground network will connect you with every important point of the city. The majority of the trains are new, frequent and in good state. The underground stations are marked with a white capital M on a red sign.
In all stations, some big fans continuously spray water steam around, to keep the air clean and to maintain a correct temperature.
The bus service is good as well, connecting all parts of the city and the suburban areas. Finally, the tram service (with the old models in the city centre and the modern coaches outside) offers another good alternative to move around. In addition to all this, a further choice is represented by the integrated railway line: generally on the lower floors of the underground there are some train stations with lines connecting the urban area with the suburbs.
The ticket costs 1 Euro and has a validity of 60 minutes.
The suburban ticket costs 1,55 Euro.
Anyway, there is a wide choice of daily, weekly and monthly tickets available, which entitle to unlimited journeys.

By car
If you want to reach Milan by car, remember that to access the city centre you will have to pay a compulsory fee called ECOPASS.
The price is
established according to the size of your car (in cubic capacity) and the year of matriculation.
All info on this fee available on:
http://www.comune.milano.it/dseserver/ecopass/index.html
The ECOPASS area is marked by white and blue sign with the notice ECOPASS.
A CCTV system is present in all areas of validity of the ECOPASS to monitor the flows of cars. Expensive fines shall apply for transgressors.
In general, Milan is a chaotic city, just like any other big capital, so expect frequent jams and queues at the traffic lights.
