How to get around in Dublin

Public & tourist transport

The city of Dublin doesn't have an underground but to compensate, the buses and trams connect almost every corner of Dublin.

For sightseeing there are many possibilities of using public transport. In the Irish capital there is a Sightseeing service, called City Tour which organises tours around Dublin town with fixed stops. The ticket is valid for 24 hours and allows you to step on and step off at your discretion in various areas of the city, whilst a multilingual guide accompanies the route. An original and night-time route is "The Dublin ghost bus tour," which allows you to visit haunted Dublin , the one at the origins of Dracula, creature born from the fantasy of Dubliner Bram Stoker.

Cars

The city of Dublin is chaotic with lots of traffic. During the whole day, particularly rush hour, interminable queues of cars block the main roads of the city. For such reason it's suggested to not use cars for moving around the city centre, if needed better to use a taxi.

The driving is on the left, as in the United Kingdom, and the traffic laws are fairly strict. In the city, there are many pay for parking and resident only zones.

On foot

Dublin's old town centre can also be easily visited on foot. The streets are busy and the pavements narrow, which make it a bit tricky, but not impossible, moving around with young children and prams.
