Although Ireland is served by an important commercial port that is well linked to England, the fastest and most convenient way to arrive in Ireland from Italy is undoubtedly by plane.
Dublin airport is situated about 10 km from the city which is easily reachable with public transport (taxi or shuttle bus) or renting a car. The airport is served by the M1 & M50 motorways, which connect it to main tourist destinations. There is no direct rail link between the airport and the city.
The Capital's airport is also the most important nationally, representing a privileged doorway for those who wish to visit Ireland. All the main flight companies fly to and from Dublin, some budget airlines also do a stopover, first among them the Irish Ryanair. The airport is fairly big and inside there's restaurants where it's possible to have lunch or supper if you arrive late.
Disabled people
The disabled can ask staff for assistance or information. The airport is equipped with ramps and lifts to reach the to floors and facilities for the disabled.
For those travelling with children
Those travelling with children can reach the aeroplanes access gate fairly easily with a pram. As in all Ireland, washrooms are equipped with baby changing facilities.
For those renting a car
If you are arriving late in the evening, it's advisable to book in advance.
Caution: to return the car hired from the airport you need to follow directions for the car-park. Once in the car-park you can find the car-hire companies, which are not well sign-posted from the outside.
