By bus
The upper city is easily reachable by public transports, leaving the car in the parking areas. There are 3 lines going to the upper city:
Line 1
Line 3
Line 10 (only in winter, from September to June)
Parkings
By Rondò di Monterosso, next to the roundabout, there is a free parking open 24h. If you park your car there you can get to Upper Bergamo by public transports, taking the bus (line 3) on viale Giulio Cesare, opposite the parking entrance. Another parking, situated in Piazza della Libertà, offers the first hour for free, upon showing of a valid bus ticket.

The connection between Upper and Lower Bergamo is also ensured by the funicular system, which departs from viale Vittorio Emanuele, passing by the town walls until the Market Square. There is also the funicular of San Vigilio, which leaves from the city gate of Sant’Alessandro (just outside Colle aperto) and reaches the village of San Vigilio, in proximity of the castle.
