Calendimaggio: this feast takes place every year from 29th April to 1st May. Its origins date back to the Roman age. The Romans used to celebrate the return of spring and the awakening of fertility. Since 1954 this recurrence also reminds of the historic fight between the two parties: Parte di Sopra and Parte di Sotto. On the 29th takes place the symbolic restitution of the keys to the Master, a ceremony accompanied by music and dances, while on the 30th, on the Town Square take place the medieval games with the election of the Spring Madonna. On the 1st of May there is the fight between the two parties, with a competition of sing and medieval musics. The feast culminates with a parade proclaiming the winner.

Horse ride of Satriano: this event takes place the first weekend of September to celebrate the last come back of Saint Francis before his death in the Porziuncola.

Celebration of the Holy Week: on the holy Thursday, in the Dome, the Ceremony of the Deposition takes place. On the holy Friday, in the church of Santa Maria Maggiore, the 3 hours agony of Jesus are celebrated, and later in the evening, the procession for the Dead Christ takes place.

Forgiveness feast: the feast opens on the 1st of August with a solemn celebration, after which the faithfuls leave the basilica singing sacred hymns. In the evening a procession from Assisi to the Porziuncola takes place, followed by a wake prayer. On the 2nd of August many pilgrims reach the basilica.

Festa del voto: this feast commemorates the history of Saint Claire, who stopped the Saracens’ assault by showing the sacred monstrance in the church of Saint Damiano. The feast takes place on 22nd of June, with a religious procession and civil manifestation.

Feast of Saint Rufinus: this feast takes place on 12th of August, in honour of the Patron Saint of Assisi, the first bishop of the city, died as martyr in 238 A.C. The feast starts the afternoon before, with celebrations going on until the morning after. On the same day, in the evening, a concert of sacred music takes place, and on the last Sunday of August, a historical renaissance parade is staged, followed by the Race of Saint Rufinus

Fair of Saint Francis: it takes place the first days of October, in the city centre, with some 150 exhibitors selling various goods. .

Flowers parade: it takes place during the Sunday of the Corpus Domini. A great procession called "belle pianete" marches over the streets covered with flowers.

Christmas in Assisi: from 24th December to 6th January, in the churches and streets of the city, numerous Christmas cribs can be admired, among which some living representations.
