INTRODUCTION: Ukraine (Україна, Ukrajina) is situated in Eastern Europe on the shores of the Black Sea, and it is a Country of recent modernization, rich of art, history and culture.

Entry requirements: passport is required, with a validity of at least 3 months. Visa is not necessary for stays up to 90 days.
Most European driving licenses are accepted. In some cases the Green Card might be necessary.
Travelling with pets: small sized pets like cats, dogs must travel with an animal passport and a certificate of good health conditions issued by an official veterinary institute or authorized organism. The date of issue must be within 10 days from arrival in Ukraine.
Health and safety: both private and public health structures are often insufficient, and common medicaments are available in the biggest cities only.
No vaccination is required. Upon medical advice the vaccination against diphtheria is recommended.
The areas on the borders with Moldavia are considered as unsafe. Suburban areas of the biggest cities and secondary roads should also be avoided.
Climate: the inner territories in Ukraine are characterised by a moderate continental climate (hot (but not sultry) summers and cold winters, with temperatures below zero). The eastern territory is generally colder due to the Siberian winds which hit these places. Western territories on the contrary are affected by the warm winds from the Mediterranean sea.

Economy: the Country’s economy is pretty dynamic in comparison with other post-Soviet countries, And can count on relatively high skilled workforce. After the independence from the Soviet Union the Country has been subject to a restructuring and diversification of the industrial activities. Today metal, mechanical, food, mineral (especially coal and iron) and steel industry represent the key sectors.
Agriculture is still very important. The tertiary sector, particularly tourism, is developing.
Electricity: Voltage: 220V - Frequency: 50 Hz. Both German and standard European plugs are used. It is advisable to bring an adapter.
