INTRODUCTION: the Kingdom of Sweden (Konungariket Sverige) is an independent state in Northern Europe, situated in the East part of the Scandinavian peninsula. Modernity, dream landscapes and uncontaminated nature make Sweden a worthy tourist destination, and a trip to these latitudes is favoured today by a devaluation of the currency.

Entry requirements: neither passport nor visa is required for European citizens of the Member States.  A valid identity card is sufficient. Most of the European driving licenses are accepted.

Health and safety: both private and public health structures are excellent, and medicaments are easily available, although the majority of these are sold upon medical prescription issued by a Swedish doctor.
No vaccination is required. Be careful to ticks when visiting woods and lawns during the summer. It is advisable to bring the magnetic card for health assistance.
General safety is good.

Climate: considering the extension and the particular shape of the Swedish territory, there are some climate differences in the Country, ranging from chilly and temperate to cold. Sweden is warmed up by the Gulf stream, nonetheless the northern part is situated above the polar circle. In this area the average temperatures remain below 0°. Winter is the most varied season. Rainfalls (mostly snowfalls) are pretty scarce.

Economy: Sweden is one of the 20 world economic powers, thanks to its considerable natural resources, from mineral fields to woods and hydroelectric energy. The main sectors are electronic, pharmaceutical and biotechnologies.
The southern part of the Country is the most suitable for cultivations. Here we find wheat, barley, oats and potatoes plantations.
Tourism is in constant growth and it is mainly concentrated in the capital, in the southern part and in the region of the great lakes.
Electricity: Voltage: 220V  - Frequency: 50 Hz.  Plugs are generally of standard type. It is advisable to bring an adapter.
Post offices, banks and communications: post offices are open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 18 pm. Some stay open also on Saturday until 13 pm. Banks are open Monday to Friday  from 9.30 am to 15.
