INTRODUCTION: situated in central position between West and East Europe, the Republic of Slovenia (Republika Slovenija) is an emerging destination, characterised by a diversification of the tourist offer : sport, wellbeing, food and wine, art and culture.

Entry requirements: neither passport nor visa is required for European citizens of the Member States. A valid identity card is sufficient. Most European driving licenses are accepted.
Travelling with pets: small sized pets like cats, dogs and ferrets must travel with animal passport (in force since 2004) and have an identification microchip or tattoo. Also, be vaccinated against rabies.
Health and safety: both private and public health structures are good, and medicaments are easily available.

Economy: over the course of the last years, Slovenian economy has notably increased. The leading sector of this change was industry (which employs 40% of the workforce). The key industries are metal, wood processing, sport clothing, electronics. Agriculture activities mainly consist in the cultivation of wheat, corn, fruit and vineyards. The tertiary sector led by tourism is currently developing.
