INTRODUCTION: the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is situated on the borders with Germany, France and Belgium. This small State is mainly famous as a fiscal paradise, but it would be unfair to speak only of the financial aspect, as there is much more than that: from extended wild areas to the rich cultural heritage and enchanted atmospheres out of time.

Entry requirements: neither passport nor visa is required for European citizens of the Member States.  A valid identity card is sufficient. Most of European driving licenses are accepted.  
Travelling with pets: small sized pets like cats, dogs and ferrets must travel with animal passport (in force since 2004) and have an identification microchip or tattoo. Also, they must be vaccinated against rabies.
Health and safety: both private and public health structures are very good, and it is easy to find medicaments. No vaccination is required, although it is advisable to bring the magnetic card for health assistance.

General safety is good, there are no danger zones. It must be said however, that the Country is home to several European institutions, so there might be a potential risk of terrorist attacks.
Climate: Luxembourg is characterised by a temperate Atlantic climate. Winters are not too cold and summers never too hot, but there is a high rate of humidity.

Economy: the country’s economy is one of most flourishing in the world. The key sectors are finance and industry. Agriculture represents only 1% of the per capita income.
