INTRODUCTION: the Republic of Hungary (Magyarország) is a Country in Eastern Europe, which represents a bridge between East and West. Mostly known for its lovely capital Budapest, Hungary has a lot to offer to tourist, from baroque cities to lively villages in the countryside.

Entry requirement: neither passport nor visa is required for European citizens of the Member States.  A valid identity card is sufficient. Most of European driving licenses are accepted.  
Travelling with pets: small sized pets must travel with an animal passport (in force since 2004) and have an identification microchip or tattoo. Also, they must be vaccinated against rabies.
Health and safety: both private and public health structures are sufficient, and it is easy to find medicaments. No vaccination is required. It is advisable to bring the magnetic card for health assistance.
  General safety is good, there are no particular danger zones. 
Climate: Hungary is characterised by a continental climate. Winters are generally cold and dry, with some sporadic snowfalls, while summers are very hot.

Post offices, banks and communications: post offices are open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 18 pm. Some stay open also on Saturday until 12.30 pm. Banks are open Monday to Friday  from 10 am to 18 pm.
