INTRODUCTION: Estonia (Eesti Vabariik) is the northernmost of the Baltic states. During the ‘90s this beautiful country emerged from a bad economic and political crisis, and today it is affirming itself as one of the emerging tourist destinations.

Entry requirements: neither passport nor visa for tourist reasons are necessary. A valid identity card is sufficient. Most of the European driving licenses are accepted.
Travelling with pets: small sized pets like cats, dogs and ferrets must travel with animal passport (in force since 2004) and have an identification microchip or tattoo. Climate: Estonia has a temperate-cold climate. On the coast winters are cold and wet, and summers hot. Inland temperatures tend to be lower and there are often snowy precipitations.

Economy: the industrial sector is fairly developed and it is based on steel industry, processing of food and textile products. There are few important industries and some structural difficulties to work out. Agriculture and animal breeding (bovines) are gaining ground after the age of collectivism, and they provide the raw materials for the food industry. Line, cereals and vegetables are the main cultivations. Economic activities are bound to the tertiary sector: services, consultancy and tourism.

Post offices, banks and communications: post offices are open from 9 am to 17 pm Monday to Friday, and sometimes on Saturday until 12.30 pm. Banks are usually open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 18 pm. some stay open also on Saturday morning.
