INTRODUCTION: situated just a bit North of Germany, the kingdom of Denmark is the smallest and the southernmost state of Scandinavia. The “Country of Fairy-tales”, as it is called, attracts visitors with its suggestive landscapes and the traditions. The charming atmosphere makes it a peculiar place to visit, far from the usual European destinations.

Travelling with pets: small sized pets like cats, dogs and ferrets must travel with animal passport (in force since 2004) and have an identification microchip or tattoo. Also, they must be vaccinated against rabies.
Health and safety: both private and public health structures are excellent. No vaccination is required. It is advisable to bring the magnetic card for health assistance.
General safety in the country is good, although recently the Danish authorities have been facing violence episodes connected to rivalry between criminal bands in the biggest urban centres.
Climate: Denmark enjoys a temperate Atlantic climate. Summer months are hot, autumns are often windy and rainy, whereas winters are moderately cold.

Economy: Danish economy is a modern and dynamic market economy. The country is highly industrialized. The key sectors are IT, biotechnologies, telecommunications, pharmaceutical industry and food industry. Agriculture and animal breeding are well developed and can count on modern technologies. The tertiary sector represents 70% of the country gross income.
Electricity: voltage: 220 V, frequency 50 Hz. It is advisable to bring plug adapters.
Post offices, banks and telephones: post offices are open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 17 pm, some are open also on Saturday until 12 am. Banks are generally open Monday to Friday from 9.30 am to 16 pm.
